Could Julius Mays be playing himself into a shot at the NBA? What seemed like an unlikely notion as recently as last week suddenly doesn’t seem so crazy anymore after Mays’ workout at a pre-NBA Draft combine that was hosted by the New Jersey Nets on Thursday.
Facing talent that will be up for grabs at the NBA Draft, Mays shined, according to tweets from John Calipari, who was in attendance at the PNY Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
“Just got done watching Julius Mays at the Nets’ combine,” Calipari tweeted. “Julius played really well — and he played point guard! Julius had 18 points and six assists in just two 12-minute quarters. He played so well that people are probably wondering why I didn’t play him at point guard. Couldn’t be more proud of Julius.”
